Well here we are again. At Canyon Farms. We stay here every year. This year we are here for 3 weeks and we have already blown a week. So I am behind in my blog. Thanks to my friend Karen Calvert for giving me a kick in the ass to get to it!
The drive up was uneventful. The valley traffic was brutal. But after Hope a breeze. And the Coquihalla didn’t have any one lane sections. Two lanes or more. However, it was a Saturday, so may be different on a weekday.
We had some very interesting weather the first 3 - 4 days. Thunder and lightning. And rain! Boy did it rain one afternoon! POURED. And funny our friends camping at Bear Creek Park in West Kelowna, said it didn’t rain there.
We have golfed twice. Black Mountain and Shadow Ridge. And I stunk both times. Ugh. We walked Shadow Mountain. And Wilbur CARRIED his clubs! Crazy! It was over 30C. We have golfed with our friends Connie and Lee and Lees’ sister and husband. They very generously have been including us in their golf tee times! Nice.
We’ve taken the dogs to the dog beach. Joannie is learning to swim and still has her upper body out of the water to much. But she’s game! Weirdly Vodka was a bit hesitant. A few years ago he was in the water like a trooper.
Then we headed back and proceeded to lose Wilburs towel so we turned around and threw the bikes in turbo (yes electric bikes….I am OLD), and blasted back, 10 mins at least. To find a man rolling it up, ready to put in his back pack. He very generously handed it over. No conflict. We chatted.. thanked him for rescuing out towel and turned around and blasted back on turbo.
Time for a stop. Beer and pizza…and then THIS happened. Wilbur took an offshoot and I drove to the sidewalk. And proceeded to lose my balance, because I am a freakin KLUTZ, and fell off the sidewalk into the road. So first, I didn’t get run over. Thankfully. However, I mashed myself pretty good. Some women stopped and asked if I was OK, as I was scraping myself off the pavement. I said I think so, (all my parts worked, with no bones sticking out) and then dragged the bike and myself back onto the sidewalk. The handle bars were moved off center, so I had to balance the bike tire between my knees and straighten them. Then I walked over to where Wilbur was. He didn’t see any of this, as it was around trees and hedges.. he threw up his arms like …”where the hell have you been”… I held up my elbow and said “I fell”!
So instead of the burger shack he had stopped at, I said I need a drink a real place to sit. So we rode, carefully, a half a block away to this really good pizza place, Pane Vino Pizza…
I headed to the washroom and washed my elbow and knee and road rash. Came back to table and ordered beers and pizza. And Wilbur pulled out the first aid kit. That we know he only carries because of me! Finished the first beer and another was ordered.
Me and my boo boos.
Seriously I could have been ran over so easy. I’m lucky that it is the land bridge area, between Wood Lake and Kalamalka Lake…so everyone is going really slow.
And ya the bike is OK.
After the beer and pizza we still had a 30 minute ride to the truck.
Today our friends Connie and Lee very graciously drove up here for a visit. I had appies and wine for them. Nice visit. And forgot to get a picture.

Nice post Sis! I'm really glad you weren't seriously hurt. I know what cracking an elbow on pavement results in. Beer is a very thing after an injury😊 Great pictures...keep posting.
