April 10 - 24 - Palm Springs 2024

So this is covering a few weeks.    I forgot to mention.  After the first brewery we went to. It was very cloudy and windy.  And it starting raining on the way home.  Put the window wipers on and SURPRISE the passenger side one didn’t work.  Ugh.. trucks!  Am I right!  Make an appointment at Ford.  $500 dollars later and a day and a half with no vehicle, it is fixed.   Another semi plastic part that wore out.  Alicja had to pick us up when we went for dinner at Wilbur’s and our friends Kim and Jennifer (best-man from our wedding) place.

Kim and Jennifer had us and Alicja and Bill over for dinner.  NO I know, I completely forgot to get a picture.  They had friends staying, Brady and Tina and their grown daughter Taylor.  A really fun evening… other than for Alicja who had to go out of her way to pick us up and drop us off.  Thanks Alicja!

Me having the dreaded biscuits and gravy.  My guilty pleasure.  This one was slightly different with scrambled eggs and bacon.  I would go back to just regular.  But the gravy was very flavourable.   I know, most people gag over the white gravy. (Kathryn)

Wilbur tried something he has never tried.  Chicken fried steak.  He said he thinks it was chicken.   Ok but wouldn’t get again.

The restaurant was very kitschy.

Cute baby ducks we saw while golfing.

Wilbur and I at (shockingly) a brewery.

Just to prove we road our bikes.  After fixing a flat.  This resort is huge.   1000 sites.  Lots of room to rides bikes around.

Wilbur with his new hat from the COD fair.  Every Saturday and Sunday vendors set up booths on the parking lot.   A lot less vendors than before Covid.   And less in April.  His hat is made to be soaked in water and keep you cool.  Which of course he would argue, he’s already cool!  Eye roll inserted!

Alicja’s swing!   She is a good golfer and a really good putter.

Turtles in the pond at our little golf course.  We have two ducks and bunnies and a road runner and of COURSE, Canada Geese.  Damn geese go home!

Wilbur on our golf course.

Because it’s been cooler this winter, and quite a bit more rain, the cacti are in bloom.

Again, Wilbur on our small course.

We went to one of the casinos here and ate and gambled.  Wilbur pretending to be prissy with his baby finger out.  With MY drink!

You haven’t heard any screaming, so NO I didn’t win the big one!

Having a siesta.

This resort has a LOT of social activities.  Unfortunately most of them end at the end of March, when everyone leaves.  We are the weirdos who come in April when it gets hotter.  But golf gets cheaper!  Here we are at the comedy show at the resort.  $14 dollars each to get in and drinks were 5 bucks.   Can’t beat that deal.  The first guy was ok, but the second guy was quite funny.

Alicja and Bill on some course.  We have already golfed, Desert Dunes, Mountain Vista, Cimarron and Desert Princess and Desert Falls.  This week and next we will be golfing Mission Hill, Mountain Vista (their other course), Cimarron again, Mission Lakes.

Wilbur finally bbq’ing.  A steak and baby potatoes and onions.  The steak was really good.  The meat down here is a real good bargain.  We have gotten ribeyes for $10 bucks.  And 2 strip loins for around the same price.  Pork chops are reasonable too.  Everything else, eggs and milk, etc, are the same price as home.  Which means it’s a lot more with .30 cents on the dollar.  But all the steaks we have had have been tender and very flavourful.

The bunnies on our property.  Very small ones.  We did see a jackalope  (big ears) on one of the golf courses.

Pretty sunset with a bit of clouds.
