July 9, 2025 - Kelowna

Hi everyone.  We are once again at our favourite little place in Kelowna. Canyon Farms RV Park. Beautiful, quiet and eggs and veggies!  Lesley (the owner) sells eggs and veggies and chickens.  She has added lemon spatchcocked chickens.  Her daughter-in-law bakes bread you can buy on Saturday.  What more could you want!

Well. We could want our brand new trailer, to not have problems!!!!!!

When we pulled in to open the gate, I smelled a horrible burning smell.

We pulled into our site and huge plumes of blue smoke and horrible brake smell!  YIKES. We suspected a seized brake.  How long had that started.  Ah yes, we do the Coquihalla.   And yes we don't ride the brakes and use the engine brake (tow haul). Seized brakes is how a fire starts and your burn down your trailer!

Soooo. Call to Travelland and talked to our service guy.   Always good to talk to same person again and again. He didn't remember but it's been a few months.  Once he brought up our account, all was good.

Our Trailer is less than a year old.  So after explaining, a few times, that we are living in the trailer, with our dogs, we couldn't just drop it off at the Travelland up here.  Potentially I saw us sleeping in their parking lot, in our trailer.  Maybe we could be paid as security?

Anyhow our service guy looked after it, phoning up here and getting us in as an emergency.  Thanks Mick.

Apparently, self-adjusting brakes can tighten too much.  The mechanic suspected it had tightened too much.  Said possibly was misadjusted at factory. (Oh really... something mis-built on a trailer.  Say it isn't so. 🙄).  Also, interesting that backing up causes the tightening.  Well if you know our driveway,  we back up a lot, repositioning.

He readjusted and has ordered us knew brake pads.  Unfortunately it has to be approved through Grand Solitudes warranty program.  So we will wait a week and then start squawking to get them here.

Wilbur said this was the temperature after driving to the Travelland.  Only a 100 degress higher than the other brakes.  It was 540F when we got to our site!

We have not done anything else since we got here. That was enough stress for quite a few days. Or months.  Or ever.

This is me relaxing in our trailer. With my leg up, as weirdly I have a swollen left ankle.  Maybe from kicking Travelland in their ass.   Tee hee
