April 3-8 Bakersfield to Palm Springs Outdoor Resort

Where have we been?  Well.  We ended up staying in Bakersfield an extra  night because of the wind.  It was incredibly windy in Bakersfield and all the way to Palm Springs.  When you have a “big rig”, you try to avoid driving in the wind.  So we were able to stay another night, without changing sights.  And we’re able to bump our Palm Springs reservation along another day.  We are now staying April 4 - May 4.

We are staying at Outdoor RV Resort in Cathedral City.  It is an owned resort.  Which means we rent a pad, from an owner.  Actually it was from an agent, who rents for a bunch of owners.  The cost was $1600   BUT.  They rip you off to pay resort fees of $20. a day.  So an extra $600.  And it is a rip because the owner still pays his HOA fees of $480.00ish a month.  So double dipping!  And there are a fair amount of renters.  

At least there is a real dog park here now.  When we stayed here about 7 years ago, there was one little 10 by 10 fake turf area (three side by side) for the whole resort.  You have to know, there is 1000 pads here.  It is BIG.  And 90% of RV’ers have dogs. Or two, or three like us (You are only supposed to have 2 but poor little Buddy doesn’t count.  Yes my 15 1/2 yr old guy with lung cancer, is still hanging on.  Sleeps all day and most of the night  not incontinent, so until that happens or something else, we still look after him.).  I’ll take a picture of the dog park.

We have already golfed once.  A bit of a crappy course.  Cathedral Canyon.  IE, some holes had very sparse grass.  And we did use an Underpar coupon, but it still wasn’t cheap.  We come down in April, when it gets really hot, and most everyone goes home, to get cheaper golf.  It seems the rates aren’t what they were a few years ago.  I am hoping they go down April 15.  

And the laundry isn’t cheap.  You have to buy a laundry card for $20 and there is a credit of $14.50.  And laundry is anywhere from 2.75 to 3ish.. and dryers are 1.75  I did 3 loads yesterday and pretty well used all my money… ugh.  

HOWEVER, there is a teeny par 3 golf course that is FREE.  So we better get out on that.  And multiple pools.  So you don’t have to go for miles to one pool that is over crowded.

Yes there are a lot of trailers, but it is very nice.  With grass and trees.  And each lot is customized.  Some have pavers.  Some have bar areas.  Some have put in turf on the sides.  Lights on the palm trees.  I will take pictures of that too, tomorrows blog.

Hit the casino yesterday and “only” lost $50.00   That’s it for now!
