July 24, 2023 - Kelowna

Well an update is long overdue.

We have been golfing with friends Connie and Lee.  And I golfed with the woman (Lee's sister Sharon organizes it) at Michaelbrook. There was Sharon, Connie, Haley, Jen, Sarah and Haley's twin......Ugh. I will remember in a few minutes. Ashley!  OK I cheated and asked Connie. Sorry Ashley!

Sharon did a fun scorekeeping. If you hit a tree you get extra points. Also if you went in the water or got a birdie.  So all of us trying to AVOID water and trees, were losers. And then of course, guess who won,  THE SCOREKEEPER, Sharon. Funny how that happens!

Wilbur and Lee joined us after for food!
Sharon in the pink. The organizer!

Then that evening, we went to their campsite at Bear Creek park. Yes the same name as the one in Surrey.  But this one is on the West Kelowna side, on the way to Fintry.

The kids were putting on a play.  Not having children, I didn't know the play was based on Moana. My friend Connie explained it as it was going on.   Very well done with a few adults helping with bit parts and music.

After we all got up and danced! Freeze dancing ! Me with Lee.

Then Wilbur and I stayed at Connie and Lee's campsite and had a few beer.  Connie made Lee bring out the propane fire pit.

The next day I was not feeling well, due to overindulgence of beer!  My liver isn't 20 anymore. But we had fun!

The bathing beauties trying to tan. Joannie, Vodka (the little white one) and the big white whale Joy!

Friday was a hot one. We took the dogs to one dog beach and then went to one of favourite breweries. Jacknife Brewery. They make good pizza!

This was the second beach we went to, after the brewery. It was too warm still, and I needed to jump in the water with them!  Lake Avenue Dog beach.  Forgot to get pictures at the  first dog beach.

Jacknife Brewery. Sitting outside in the back.

This is a picture from last year, to show the inside of the brewery.

And another one to show the jacknife resined into the tables

While we were at the dog beach, we could see the thunderclouds coming in. Wilbur saw a flash of lightning towards Peachland. And we were. "Let's get out of here!"

We have quite a few afternoon storms.
Yes.  Wilbur carrying his clubs in 35 degree weather!

Saturday we golfed Michaelbrook. Then we couldn't eat there as there was an event.  So we went to a pub on Hwy 33. Post Haus Pub very small and I think, very local. As it appeared to have bar flys and everyone else new each other.  Or it seemed that way. Big portions. And german flare. Wilbur had weiner schnitzel. And I had a cordon bleu burger.

Sunday we took the truck and bikes down to Mission Creek and rode over to Creekside Pub.  Where we met our friends Kevin and Tracy for lunch!  Forgot to get a picture.  Then we rode a little further along the beach and turned and came back
Wilbur propping up a log!

And now just some random dogs pictures.

Oh ya forgot a few. Wilbur walked the dogs down the hill from us, to Mission Creek. This is when I was visiting with my sister Anne.

That's all for now.  It's cloudy today and quite a wind.  Nice to be a bit cooler.

  1. Well it looks like you're having fun! Michaelbrook is where Linda golfs with her gal pals and Creekside is where she and Ian have regular happy hours..small world eh! Kudos to Wilbur for carrying his clubs! The doggies look like they're having a great time. I've raised kids and grandkids and I've never heard of the play😁
